Job Description:
We’re looking for a Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Classroom in Nairn.
The Classroom is a busy, well-established venue in the heart of Nairn, just a short walk from the beach and surrounded by year-round local and visitor trade. Our food is all about quality home cooking, with a modern twist, that adapts to the seasons. Head Chef Shaun is just about to launch our new menu, with some creative, modern bistro style dishes, and we are looking for the right person to support.
The Role:
We’re looking for a reliable, organised Sous Chef who can:
- Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Lead service confidently in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
- Help manage rotas, prep, ordering and stock control.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards are always met.
- Support and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff.
- Work closely with the wider management team to maintain a positive and professional kitchen culture.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in good standards, and wants to develop within a strong hospitality group.
What We Offer:
- Base salary up to £37,000
- Achievable GP bonus of £200 per stock take (6 per year).
