QSHE Manager
Department: Operations
Reports to: Operations Director / Managing Director
Location: Office Based (Edinburgh or Glasgow) with Regular Site & Branch Visits

Role Overview
The QSHE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Company's Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and customer requirements.
Working closely with the Operations, Engineering, Sales and Management teams, the QSHE Manager will promote a positive safety culture whilst ensuring high standards of quality are consistently achieved across all business activities including:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive Maintenance
- Pump Installations
- Commissioning
- Workshop Repairs
- Equipment Sales
- Project Delivery
The role requires regular visits to our branch locations, customer sites to monitor compliance, undertake audits, investigate incidents and provide support to engineers and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Maintain the company's Health & Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and all relevant legislation.
- Produce, review and maintain:
- Risk Assessments
- Method Statements (RAMS)
- COSHH Assessments
- Safe Systems of Work
- Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accident statistics and reporting.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Monitor PPE compliance.
- Assist project teams with CDM compliance.
- Ensure subcontractor competence and compliance.
- Support engineers with site-specific safety issues.
- Maintain emergency procedures.
Quality
- Maintain the company's ISO Management Systems including:
- ISO 9001
- Further ISO accreditation as required
- Conduct internal audits.
- Coordinate external certification audits.
- Manage corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Monitor customer complaints.
- Identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Review operational procedures.
- Ensure commissioning documentation is completed correctly.
- Monitor calibration of test equipment.
- Support tender submissions with quality documentation.
- Maintain document control systems.
Environmental
- Promote environmentally responsible working practices.
- Monitor waste management.
- Ensure correct disposal of hazardous waste.
- Promote recycling initiatives.
- Monitor environmental incidents.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Assist in reducing company carbon emissions.
- Promote fuel efficiency and route planning.
- Support sustainability initiatives requested by customers.

- Develop training matrix.
- Monitor competency records.

- Maintain CSCS, ECS and other competency records.
- Support behavioural safety initiatives.
Operational Support
Work closely with:
- Engineering Manager

Provide QSHE advice throughout project planning and delivery.
Customer Support
Support customer requirements by:
- Completing supplier questionnaires
- Preparing tender documentation
- Attending client meetings
- Supporting audits
- Producing site-specific RAMS
- Completing pre-qualification questionnaires
- Assisting with contractor approvals
Documentation
Responsible for maintaining:
- Health & Safety Manual
- Quality Manual
- Environmental Manual
- RAMS Library

- Inspection Records
- Training Records
- Equipment Calibration Register

Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
- IOSH Managing Safely (minimum)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Confined Space Awareness
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Experience within engineering, utilities, construction or mechanical services.

- Experience with ISO Management Systems.
- Experience delivering training.

- Pump industry experience.
- Water industry experience.
