GMP Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a prestigious luxury hotel group to recruit an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join their talented kitchen team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within an exceptional hospitality environment, supporting the Head Chef in delivering outstanding food and unforgettable guest experiences from breakfast through to dinner.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen operation, supporting the Head Chef and taking full ownership of the kitchen in their absence.
You will lead by example, maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and service while motivating and developing the kitchen brigade. This is a fast-paced role suited to a confident kitchen leader who thrives under pressure and has a genuine passion for exceptional food and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day management of the kitchen operation.
- Take full responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
- Lead and motivate the kitchen brigade during busy services.
- Ensure food preparation, presentation, taste, texture and quality consistently meet the highest standards.
- Maintain exceptional food quality and presentation throughout every service.
- Ensure dishes are produced accurately and consistently to agreed standards.
- Maintain a strong focus on guest satisfaction and service excellence.
- Ensure Food Safety, Health & Safety and kitchen hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Keep the Head Chef informed of any issues relating to staffing, equipment, food quality or kitchen operations.
- Assist with the training, induction, coaching and development of the kitchen brigade.
- Share knowledge, skills and passion for food with the wider team.
- Assist with ordering, stock management and kitchen administration.
- Support the Head Chef in maintaining efficient kitchen systems and controls.
- Ensure the kitchen is fully prepared and organised for each service.
- Work collaboratively with the wider hotel team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Remain calm, organised and professional while working under pressure.
About You
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen leadership position.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen brigade.
- Passionate about producing high-quality food and delivering exceptional standards.
- Confident running a busy kitchen operation and leading service.
- Excellent understanding of food quality, presentation and consistency.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety and Health & Safety standards.
- Good understanding of ordering, stock control and kitchen administration.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Able to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- A genuine team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and developing others.
- Flexible approach to working within a busy hospitality environment.
- Previous experience within a luxury hotel, restaurant or high-end hospitality environment would be advantageous.
