Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food and eager to develop their skills in a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will support the head chef in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen operations, and ensuring excellent standards of food safety and hygiene. Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Support meal preparation for service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations
- Help with inventory management, including stock rotation and storage
- Assist in setting up kitchen equipment and ensuring all tools are maintained in good condition
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold a safe working environment
- Support serving staff during busy periods, including plating dishes and managing food presentation
- Contribute to team efforts to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional setting is desirable
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kitchen environment
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary arts is key
