Housing Disrepair Breach Team Fee Earner
Location: Bolton, with hybrid and flexible working across the North West
Hours: Full time, 9 to 5
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
The role
You will run a caseload of breach files within our housing disrepair team. Here, breach means a landlord who agreed to carry out repairs to a tenant's home under a settlement or court order and then failed to do so. You will hold landlords to those obligations, before and after litigation, and enforce settlements and orders where they are breached. Please note this is housing disrepair breach work, not general commercial contract work.
What you will do
- Run a caseload of pre and post litigation breach files, acting for tenants
- Deal with matters where a repair settlement or court order has not been complied with
- Prepare and progress Part 8 claims and N244 applications
- Enforce settlement terms and court orders against landlords who breach them
- Draft the applications, correspondence and statements of case each matter needs
- Keep clients clearly updated, many of whom are vulnerable and still waiting on repairs
What we are looking for
- At least 12 months of litigation experience, ideally within a breach or housing disrepair team
- A clear understanding of enforcing court orders and settlements
- Experience with Part 8 claims and N244 applications is an advantage
- Strong drafting and client care
- Experience with a case management system, with Proclaim desirable
- Open to qualified solicitors, CILEX and experienced paralegals
What we offer
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
- Hybrid and flexible working across the North West
- A growing firm with room to progress
