About Carry on Campers
We are a growing specialist in custom van conversions. We take standard panel vans and transform them into high-specification, bespoke campervans and motorhomes.
We pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivering high-quality finishes for our customers.
We are looking for a Joiner / Campervan Conversion Joiner to join our workshop team on a full-time basis.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a background in joinery, carpentry, cabinet making, furniture fitting, or a similar trade who wants to develop their skills within the campervan conversion industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Campervan Builds: Working as part of a team to build and convert panel vans into bespoke campervans.
- Carpentry & Joinery: Measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing cabinetry, furniture, worktops, seating, storage units, and other interior components.
- Cabinet Installation: Fitting pre-made furniture and cabinetry accurately into vehicle interiors.
- Bespoke Joinery: Producing custom pieces to suit individual vehicle layouts and customer requirements.
- Insulation & Lining: Assisting with insulation, ply-lining, carpet lining, and preparation of vehicle interiors.
- Flooring & Interior Fitting: Installing flooring, wall panels, furniture, trims, and finishing components.
- Measuring & Accuracy: Taking accurate measurements and ensuring all components are fitted correctly and securely.
- Finishing: Carrying out detailed finishing work to achieve a high-quality, professional appearance.
- Team Working: Working alongside other members of the conversion team to complete builds efficiently and to a high standard.
- Quality & Safety: Maintaining high standards of workmanship, following workshop safety procedures, and keeping a clean and organised workspace.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in joinery, carpentry, cabinet making, furniture fitting, shop fitting, or a similar trade.
- Good understanding of woodworking and the safe use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install timber and sheet materials.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work from measurements, drawings, plans, and instructions.
- Good practical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the campervan conversion industry.
- Full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience working within the campervan, caravan, motorhome, boat-building, vehicle or furniture industries.
- Experience with CNC machinery or other woodworking machinery.
- Experience fitting kitchens, furniture, cabinetry, or bespoke interiors.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle conversions.
- Experience working with composite materials, aluminium, plastics, or similar materials.
- NVQ, City & Guilds, or other relevant joinery/carpentry qualification.

You should be someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys building things, pays attention to the small details, and wants to see a project through from a bare van to a finished campervan.
Experience specifically in campervan conversions is not essential. If you are a skilled joiner or carpenter with a passion for practical, hands-on work, we would love to hear from you.
