ROLE OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring our buildings and plant remain well maintained, compliant and in full working order. It will involve ensuring all preventive maintenance, as well as routine inspections are completed on time and reactive works are completed effectively, efficiently whilst managing disruption levels. This role will be a ‘hands on’ role in a busy and diverse environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
People & Culture

- Lead, train and develop the team of Maintenance Assistants and support the Venue with training for Duty Managers and wider teams.
- Liaise, build and maintain good communication with departmental staff, managers and external suppliers and contractors.
- Maintain up to date training records for your direct reports and ensure they remain certified on relevant qualifications.
- Act as a Duty Manager and a Head of Department leading all departments within the club.
- Comply with BGL policies and procedures
Service Delivery & Standards
- Maintain clear lines of communication to Management, Colleagues and our members and guests.
- Deliver exceptional experiences to our members and guests and ensure repairs and works are presented to the highest possible standards including the conduct of workers.
- Responsible for the maintenance and presentation of the building both indoors and outdoors, including decoration to deliver exceptional standards.
- Support Greenkeeping Team and daily operations by maintaining kerb appeal.
Preventative Works
Work with contractors to ensure all PPM works are completed on time to a high standard and all recommendations are acted upon and communicated clearly.
Take responsibility for day to day maintenance operations including the Pool Plant operations and ensure the club complies with PWTAG
Maintain a schedule of decorating works to maintain standards
Maintain our equipment inline with manufacturers guidelines.
Compliance and Safety
- Complete all building compliance checks and carry out relevant routine inspections to ensure we deliver the highest possible standards.
- Maintain clear due diligence records for all contractors working at the venue. This includes insurance certificates and relevant RAMS/permits.
- Maintain accurate and clear records of all works completed and ensure these are stored safely.
- To maintain the highest standards of workshop maintenance and presentation
- Maintain Risk Assessments including use of Dynamic risk assessments.
- Ensure all relevant PPE is used where necessary.
- Ensure all chemicals are stored correctly and used in line with the guidelines.
- To over-see the on-going work activities of employees in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to all Health and Safety practices.
Reactive Works
- To prioritise all works effectively and always striving for a first-time fix.
- Act as the first responder to reactive maintenance, minor repairs and building fabric issues such as plumbing, electrical, decorating etc (depending on what you are qualified to do).
- Hold stock of regular consumable parts to ensure quick turnaround to issues
- Offer flexibility in working hours to ensure out of hours works are supervised/completed
Commercial
- Maintain clear cost records for each valuable asset to help make commercial decisions on repair/replacement.
- Seek approval for works to be carried out in line with management guidelines.
- Obtain a minimum of 3 quotes when not using approved suppliers to ensure commercial control is exercised.
- Assist management with a 5 year plan for building management in terms of investment requirements and budgeting requirements
- Perform relevant duties as required by your line manager and Senior Management Team.
