Design & Technology Technician Required – Haringey
A well-resourced Secondary School in Haringey is seeking an experienced Design & Technology Technician to join their DT department as soon as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and organised technician with a strong background in Resistant Materials and Woodwork to support practical lessons, maintain workshop equipment, and ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for Resistant Materials and Woodwork lessons.
- Supporting teachers and students during practical DT sessions.
- Maintaining machinery, hand tools, and workshop equipment to a safe working standard.
- Managing stock levels, ordering materials, and organising storage areas.
- Carrying out routine safety checks and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and departmental procedures.
- Assisting with displays, projects, and practical coursework preparation.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Design & Technology department.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a DT Technician within a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of Resistant Materials and Woodwork.
- Experience using and maintaining workshop machinery and equipment.
- Up-to-date Health & Safety knowledge within a DT setting.
- Recent and relevant certifications/training related to workshop safety, machinery, or DT support.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
