Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Driller or Trainee Assistant Driller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the operating drilling equipment to support construction, water abstraction, or geotechnical projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects requiring technical expertise and a strong safety focus. The ideal applicant will possess mechanical knowledge and experience with machinery and commercial driving, ensuring efficient and safe operations across various sites.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the operation of drilling machinery accurately according to project specifications and safety standards
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with site preparation, including setting up drill rigs and ensuring the work area is secure
- Collaborate with team members to execute drilling plans effectively and efficiently
- Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, including depth, measurements, and equipment usage
- Follow all health and safety regulations to minimise risks on site
- Support other site activities as required, including transporting materials using commercial vehicles when necessary
Experience
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on machinery
- Valid driving licence with a clean driving record is essential
- Prior experience working in diverse outdoor environments and adhering to strict safety protocols is preferred
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Able to follow instructions from the Lead Driller and react to changing work scopes in a positive manner
