Role Overview
Spectra Solar is recruiting an office based Solar Accounts Manager to manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to signed contract.
This is a desk based technical sales role focused on system design, customer consultation, and producing accurate quotations. You will not be required to carry out installations or surveys. These are carried out by our in house teams.
You will explain Solar PV + battery storage systems, design systems, and provide clear, commercially sound proposals. It would be advantageous to have knowledge on Air source heat pumps, EV chargers and Air conditioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inbound and outbound customer enquiries from the office
- Conduct customer consultations via phone, and in person using the Spectra showroom
- Explain solar PV & battery storage systems
- Assess customer requirements using usage data, photos, plans, remote surveys, and in person discussions
- Design systems using relevant software (solar design tools, heat pump sizing tools, EV charger specs)
- Produce detailed proposals including system layouts, performance estimates, and costings
- Advise on system suitability, limitations, and realistic expectations
- Ensure designs comply with MCS standards and current regulations
- Liaise with installation teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
- Follow up quotations and convert leads into confirmed projects
- Maintain accurate records within CRM systems
Technical Scope
You will be expected to understand and communicate:
- Solar PV system design (roof layouts, orientation, shading, inverter selection)
- Battery storage systems (capacity sizing, AC vs hybrid systems, limitations)
- EV charging systems (single/three-phase supply, load balancing, solar integration, smart tariffs – training provided if required)
- Basic electrical and heating system principles
- Performance expectations vs real-world conditions
Essential:
- Experience in solar, renewables, EV charging, or heating industry
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems
- Ability to produce accurate system designs and costings
- Comfortable working in an office-based, desk-focused role
- Strong phone and customer communication skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to close deals
Advantageous (not essential):
- Experience with air source heat pumps (sales, design, or installation)
- Knowledge of heat loss calculations and system sizing
- Experience with EV charger systems and load management
- Experience in Air conditioning sales & design

Please note this is an Office based role and in person, this means the successful candidate would be required to work from our office based in Wigan on a daily basis. There are no hybrid or remote working roles available.
The position is salary based and based on experience.
