Smart Solutions is currently recruiting for a Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitter to work with a leading aerospace client. This role involves working on aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies, assembling composite and metallic components in line with approved technical data, tools and processes.
This position is based within a highly regulated aerospace environment, where quality, accuracy and compliance are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components to engineering requirements
- Drilling, reaming and countersinking of composite and metallic components
- Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs
- Deburring and producing under-head radius on aircraft components and assemblies
- Fettling using approved and calibrated setting tools
- Use of nut runners and pre-set torque guns for bolting
- Work in line with site Health & Safety requirements
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities
Qualifications – Mandatory

- Completed apprenticeship or recognised equivalent qualification in an aerospace / aircraft-related discipline
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience assembling aircraft components using drawings and defined aerospace processes
Key Skills & Experience
- Ability to assemble and trim composite and ancillary materials to tight tolerances
- Strong hand skills and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems
- Experience operating CNC machines and processes (where required)
- Self-motivated team player with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within small teams
- Willingness to undertake training and develop composite manufacturing knowledge
- Ability to take responsibility and self-certify own work
- Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft packages
