Job Summary
Choice Indian Restaurant is seeking a reliable, organized, and customer-focused Food Service Supervisor to support the daily operation of our Ottawa/Kanata location.
The successful candidate will supervise food-service staff, coordinate daily shift activities, support customer service, maintain food quality and safety standards, and help ensure smooth restaurant operations.
We welcome candidates with previous experience in team leadership, operations, customer service, hospitality, or food service. Experience supervising employees in a fast-paced environment is considered an asset.
French-language ability is also considered an asset in serving Ottawa’s diverse customer base.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of employees involved in food preparation and customer service.
- Assign daily duties and organize staff during scheduled shifts.
- Support the training and orientation of new employees.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and customer-service standards.
- Ensure employees follow food-safety, sanitation, health, and safety procedures.
- Assist with staff scheduling and shift coordination.
- Monitor stock, food supplies, and inventory levels and report shortages when required.
- Support smooth communication between front-of-house and kitchen staff.
- Respond professionally to customer questions, complaints, and service issues.
- Help maintain efficient service during busy periods.
- Keep basic records related to stock, staffing, and daily operations when required.
- Report operational issues to restaurant management.
- Help maintain a respectful, organized, and positive team environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory, team-lead, retail, hospitality, customer-service, or food-service environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and support employees.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and follow restaurant food-safety and operating procedures.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- English communication skills sufficient for the role.
- French-language communication skills are an asset.
- Previous restaurant or food-service experience is an asset.
Education
Post-secondary education in business, management, hospitality, project management, food service, or a related field is considered an asset.
