Stirling Animation Studio is a 2D and CG animation studio based in Stirling, Scotland. We are expanding our team and looking for a IT Systems & Hardware Support Administrator to join our on-site team in Stirling.
We're hoping to connect with local IT professionals who are interested in providing in-house support across hardware integration and networking. We'd also be open to offering this as a trainee position to up-skill an enthusiastic entry-level candidate through training and mentoring.
Stirling Animation creates CG animated children's content, most recently the TV series Zog for the BBC which is based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's beloved children's book series.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to support our team of artists and technical crew to work efficiently and effectively across productions. Additionally, you will provide key support on hardware integration and networking with the opportunity to gain experience in writing scripts (Python) and tools development.
We are looking for someone with strong interests in both software and hardware systems. Training will be provided and so an enthusiasm to learn new skills and systems is also essential.
This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days a week in person at the studio (FK8 2HU). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, for which time off in lieu will be provided.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Guide team members remotely and in person through systems configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Provide quick and effective assistance with information technology systems
- Participate in administration of backup operations, manage and perform tape archival processes
- Administer user accounts (Google, AD, etc)
- Support workstation management, installation and configuration
- Assist with the documentation of systems and procedures
- Help ensure best management of resources (hardware and software)
- Actively troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading hardware components
- Support, repair and recover from hardware or software failures
- Upgrade and configure infrastructure systems and software as needed
- Maintain server rooms
- Perform daily system monitoring of all hardware, storage, server and workstation resources
- Other duties and projects as required.
Skills we're looking for:
- Ability to communicate ideas in a user-friendly manner
- Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks autonomously
- High degree of attention to detail
- Self-motivate and proactive, able to manage own work load effectively
- Experience assembling PCs and swapping components
- Experience with servers, networking, storage and render systems
- CentOS / Redhat Linux / MacOs / Win 10 / Win 10 Server
- Working knowledge of floating license servers
- NAS configuration in multi-platform environment
- Windows Server OS and Active Directory
Working knowledge of Linux, especially command line

LOCATION: This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days a week in-person at the studio (FK8 2HU).
CONTRACT TYPE: This is a full-time role for a minimum of 6 months. The start date is flexible.
HOURS: Our standard studio hours are 10am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, for which time of in lieu will be provided. We are open to discussing flexible working hours on an individual basis where this is possible in the production pipeline.
