Domestic Assistant / CleanerOverview
We are seeking a caring, reliable, and hardworking Domestic Assistant/Cleaner to join our team within our EMI Residential Care Home. This is a vital role in ensuring that our residents live in a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
As a Domestic Assistant, you will play an important part in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention throughout the home, helping to promote the health, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life of residents living with dementia and other complex care needs.
The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent service, take pride in their work, and understand the importance of maintaining a homely environment for our residents, their families, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain all areas of the home, including resident bedrooms, bathrooms, communal lounges, dining rooms, corridors, offices, and staff facilities.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained at all times.
- Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Safely use cleaning equipment and cleaning products in accordance with company procedures and COSHH regulations.
- Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain effective infection prevention and control practices.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and consumables as required.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns to the management team promptly.
- Work respectfully around residents, ensuring their privacy, dignity, and independence are maintained at all times.
- Support the home's commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and homely environment.
Skills and ExperienceEssential:
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Good communication skills.
- A caring and compassionate approach towards older people.
Desirable:
- Previous cleaning experience within a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial environment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
- Understanding of the needs of older people and those living with dementia.
