The Role
We are looking for an inspiring and ambitious Female Head of PE to lead a vibrant, well-resourced, and high-achieving department. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the sporting life of a school ranked in the top 3% nationally for student progress.
You will lead a dedicated team of specialists, ensuring that Physical Education remains a central pillar of school life. The role involves driving participation in competitive sports, managing a diverse curriculum (including GCSE and Vocational/BTEC options), and overseeing our extensive extra-curricular programme.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the development of the PE curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring it is engaging, inclusive, and ambitious.
- Extra-Curricular Drive: Oversee and expand our thriving extra-curricular programme, including fixtures and clubs for Netball, Football, Basketball, Trampolining, Dance, and Athletics.
- Student Success: champion girls' participation in sport, building on recent successes in local and county competitions.
- Staff Management: Line manage and support department staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Events: Organise whole-school sporting events, Sports Days, and enrichment trips (previous trips have included ski trips and sports tours to Italy).
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Physical Education or a related subject.
- Experience: Proven track record of high-quality teaching and leadership (or aspiring leadership) within a secondary school setting.
- Passion: A strong advocate for the power of sport to build character, confidence, and discipline.
- Skillset: Ability to teach a wide range of sports (specialisms in Netball, Gymnastics, or Dance are desirable but not essential).
