Position: Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer
Location: 5 Pancras Square, London, Camden, N1C 4AG
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6+ Months
Working Hours: 36 hours per week
Pay Rate: £24.50 per hour
Job Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and reactive repairs on commercial HVAC and air conditioning systems
- Service and repair split, multi-split, VRV/VRF and DX systems
- Maintain and repair heat pumps, FCUs, AHUs, ventilation and extract/supply systems
- Diagnose faults and replace components including compressors, fan motors, expansion valves, PCBs, sensors and contactors
- Carry out refrigerant leak detection, recovery, pressure testing, evacuation and other F-Gas-related work
- Complete commissioning and seasonal performance checks where required
- Inspect and maintain AHUs, including filters, belts, coils, condensate trays and drainage systems
- Inspect fans, motors, ventilation equipment and associated controls
- Carry out minor installation and remedial works where required
- Support maintenance of associated mechanical plant where competent
- Identify recurring faults and recommend effective remedial solutions
- Record work, findings, materials and completion details accurately using a tablet/mobile CAFM system
- Manage and prioritise PPM and reactive jobs to meet required targets
- Work independently across schools, corporate buildings and other occupied public buildings
- Communicate professionally with building users, school staff, contractors and colleagues
- Complete risk assessments and follow health and safety, permit-to-work and working-at-height procedures
- Maintain the company van, tools and equipment in good condition
Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent recognised qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
- Current F-Gas Category 1 certification
- Proven commercial experience with split, multi-split and VRV/VRF systems
- Experience maintaining AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, heat pumps and commercial HVAC equipment
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Proven PPM and reactive maintenance experience
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience working safely in occupied buildings
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Legally eligible to work in the UK
- Confident using tablets, mobile devices and CAFM systems
- Able to provide evidence/copies of mandatory qualifications
- Willing to complete right-to-work, references, driving, DBS and other pre-employment checks
Desirable
- City & Guilds 18th Edition
- Basic electrical fault-finding skills
- BMS experience
- Water Hygiene Awareness
- IPAF or PASMA
- Public-sector, education, NHS or local-authority estates experience
- Experience with associated mechanical plant
