We are looking to recruit a passionate team member to assist within our small, friendly nursery who can take on the role of SENCO Lead and has SENCO training.
Working hours will be between 7.30am and 6pm at 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Pretending to eat playdough is essential for a nursery practitioner and you must be comfortable sitting on chairs that don’t quite fit your behind!
You must be comfortable being asked personal questions by children and you will regularly be asked questions such as What are you having for dinner? Are you married? Who do you live with? Where are you going? And much more.
You must accept that the children who utterly adore you throughout the weekdays will pretend like they don’t know you when you see them outside of nursery.
You should have the ability to read short stories with at least one interruption per page, you must have the ability to make several animal noises, and you must be willing to have a lot of fun in the workplace.
Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to all the children and their families.
Duties
- You will need to:
- Assist in the care and supervision of children in the nursery on a daily basis
- Create a safe and nurturing environment for children to play, learn and develop
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities and play
- Assist with nappy changes and potty training as needed
- Serve snacks and meals to children following appropriate guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nursery area
- Communicate with parents regarding their child's day and any concerns or updates
Skills
- Experience of working with young children and especially under 2's in a childcare setting and children of school age up to 12 years old
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and co-workers
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities at once
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
- Have skills and knowledge of SENCO
Qualifications & Education
- The successful candidate must hold a minimum level 2 qualification in childcare. Have experience of working with the EYFS and a sound knowledge of Safeguarding. You will have previous skills and knowledge of SENCO and hold a level 2/3 SENCO qualification You will be expected to attend training to further develop your skills and enhance your professional development.
