Overview
We are seeking a reliable and professional Class 1 local driver to join our team. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods within Scotland ensuring timely deliveries and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience with commercial vehicles, and a commitment to safety and punctuality. Responsibilities
- Operate lorries and other commercial vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Deliver goods to various local destinations efficiently and on time
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are maintained
- Load and unload cargo safely, adhering to proper handling procedures
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies during daily operations
- Assist with vehicle maintenance requests as needed to ensure optimal performance
Skills
- Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles,
- Strong knowledge of local roads, routes, and traffic regulations
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading, unloading, and securing cargo safely
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail for documentation and scheduling
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism
- Prior delivery driver experience is highly desirable
- Valid Class 1 driving licence with relevant endorsements
