We are looking for two receptionists to join our large, friendly GP Surgery.
You will be required to work occasional Saturday mornings on a rota basis.
You will handle telephone calls in a positive and efficient manner; assist with front desk duties and general administration. Reception and Customer Service experience preferred.
We are recruiting for 2 reception roles, one shift patterns will need to cover our late night opening on Monday's at Bishops Park until 9 pm. In addition, half day shifts will require either an 8am start or 6pm or 7pm finish depending on which site you are at. All day shifts are from 8am - 6pm.
Main duties of the job
As part of a team, to cover receptionist duties on a rota basis in a professional, confidential and caring manner to provide maximum levels of patient care and promote the surgery in a positive light.
To contribute to the smooth and efficient running of reception undertaking all tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.
Overview of your organisation
South Street Surgery operates from three premises in the town of Bishops Stortford - South Street Surgery, Bishop's Park Health Centre and Herts and Essex Hospital, providing services for about 24,000 patients. You will be required to work over all three sites.
We work closely with the other local practices in Stort Valley and Villages PCN to develop our vision for the future of Primary Care Services in this area.

Responsibilities
- Provide the maximum level of patient service.
- Ensure patients are dealt with whilst employing the maximum level of confidentiality and understanding.
- Maintain a high standard of work under pressure.
- Deal with all aspects of work with the utmost discretion and observe the strictest confidentiality.
- Answering the telephone lines promptly and professionally taking and passing on accurate messages by task or email as appropriate. At the request of the GPs, return telephone calls on their behalf.
- Dealing with members of the public and other visitors to the surgery forwarding any complaints and patient feedback to the relevant person in the first instance.
- Making appointments using the surgery's computerised system.
- Assessing and redirecting patient queries via the E- Consult system.
- Accurate inputting of data onto the system including basic scanning of documents.
- Answering enquiries face to face, by telephone and via the website dashboard e.g. changes of address, prescription requests, providing general information.
- Receiving and instructing new patients
- Issuing prescriptions and dealing with enquiries as per Practice protocol.
- Ensuring that reception areas and kept tidy and promote a professional image at all times
- Ensure that check in screens are programmed daily
- General reception administration duties as required and in times of extreme staff shortages to assist all members of staff at the Practice with administrative tasks when time permits.
