A welcoming Primary School in Worcester is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team from after the October half-term until the end of the academic year, covering a maternity absence. This is a full-time role supporting a Year 6 class and offers the opportunity to work as part of a supportive school team, providing general classroom support and helping pupils to achieve their full potential.
This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils across the classroom and can build positive relationships with children and staff. The Year 6 class includes two pupils with low-level additional needs who may occasionally require 1:1 support with their learning, so the successful candidate will need to be patient, adaptable, and able to provide additional support when required.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support learning, encourage positive behaviour, and ensure pupils are engaged and supported throughout the school day.
As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Providing general classroom support to a Year 6 class.
Supporting pupils with their learning both individually and within small groups.
Providing occasional 1:1 support to two pupils with low-level additional needs.
Working closely with the class teacher to support lesson delivery and pupil progress.
Helping to differentiate activities and provide additional guidance where required.
Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment.
Encouraging pupils' confidence, independence, and engagement with their learning.
Working alongside other support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective support.
Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and social development.
To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a Primary School.
Experience supporting pupils within Key Stage Two, ideally Year 6.
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs would be advantageous.
The ability to provide effective 1:1 and small-group support when required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
Good classroom and behaviour management skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A professional and enthusiastic approach to supporting children's learning and development.
