Salary Package: £30,500- £31,500 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm - Monday to Friday

Role purpose:
The purpose of this role is to support the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and servicing of facilities within the organisation. This role requires a versatile individual with strong general labouring skills, basic plumbing knowledge, and the ability to carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in the overall upkeep of the property, undertaking tasks across a range of trades.
Security clearance or willingness to apply will be required for this role.
Full UK driving Licence.
Key responsibilities:
1. Reactive Maintenance and Fault Finding:
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, diagnosing issues, and implementing effective repairs.
- Ensure that all reactive and scheduled maintenance tasks are completed within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues based on inspections or descriptions.
- Maintain an adequate stock of spare parts and materials required for repairs and maintenance tasks.
2. Preventive Maintenance:
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities as directed by the Facilities Manager.
- Conduct water temperature checks and sampling.
- Ensure compliance with water safety standards.
3. Documentation and Compliance:
• Accurately complete and maintain all maintenance documentation, ensuring it is up-to-date and submitted on time.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, Health & Safety, and safe working practices.
- Document inspections and repairs.
4. Multi-Trade Tasks:
• Conduct maintenance tasks, including general tradesperson tasks, basic electrical work, office moves, furniture moves, and mechanical tasks as required.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
- Address any general repair needs as they arise.
- Provide support to other team members and departments as directed by the Facilities Manager.
5. Plumbing Maintenance and Repairs (Desirable):
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on plumbing systems, including the repair and maintenance of showers, wash hand basins, toilets, taps, and both vented and unvented boilers.
- Clear blockages in toilets, sinks, wastes, and drains.
- Conduct quarterly shower head cleaning and maintenance of water features.
- Respond to emergency plumbing calls and perform necessary repairs.
- Ensure quick and efficient resolution of urgent plumbing issues.
6. Health & Safety:
• Conduct work in a safe and diligent manner, following all relevant safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintain and update personal risk assessments, always ensuring a safe working environment.
- Properly use all work equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with training and instructions received.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all maintenance activities.
7. Customer Service and Communication:
• Maintain strong customer care focus, addressing any queries or concerns from colleagues in a professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of maintenance activities.
8. Continuous Improvement:
• Participate in training and appraisal activities as required, staying updated on best practices and new developments in plumbing and maintenance.
- Proactively identify potential issues or areas for improvement in maintenance processes, suggesting solutions where appropriate.
Skills and experience:
Essential Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:
• Competent with relevant qualifications, e.g., City & Guilds.
- Strong technical skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
- Proven experience in property maintenance and repair.
- Experience in additional trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, or building repairs is desirable.
- Multi-skilled background with the ability to perform tasks across multiple trades.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge:
• Gas Safe qualification.
- IPAF and PASMA certifications for working at heights.
- Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are advantageous.
- Customer service orientation with strong communication skills.
- Computer literate with the ability to complete paperwork accurately and promptly.
