Overview
Demeric School of Dance is a friendly and established dance school based in Farnham, Surrey, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Dance Teacher to join our teaching team from September 2026.
This is a part-time teaching position on Wednesday evenings, approximately 5.30–9.15pm, teaching a mixture of children, teenagers and adults.
The classes currently include:
- Mini Street Dance
- Junior Street Dance
- Teen Commercial
- Teen Contemporary
- Adult Tap
We are looking for someone who can bring energy and fun to our younger Street Dance classes, while delivering engaging and inspiring Commercial and Contemporary classes for our teenagers and an enjoyable Adult Tap class.
The classes are already established, so this is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher looking to take on a regular weekly teaching commitment within a welcoming dance school.
There may also be opportunities for additional teaching, cover and workshops within the school for the right person.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate weekly classes across Street Dance, Commercial, Contemporary and Tap.
- Create a positive, encouraging environment where pupils can develop confidence as well as their dance skills.
- Adapt teaching and choreography appropriately for different ages and abilities.
- Encourage good technique, musicality, performance skills and safe dance practice.
- Prepare choreography for school performances and other opportunities where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and work collaboratively with the wider Demeric teaching team.
- Be reliable and committed to the regular Wednesday evening timetable.
About You
We would love to hear from teachers who:
- Have previous experience teaching children and teenagers.
- Are confident teaching Street Dance, Commercial and Contemporary.
- Are able to teach Adult Tap.
- Have an energetic, friendly and encouraging teaching style.
- Are confident planning their own classes and choreography.
- Are reliable, professional and able to commit to Wednesday evenings during term time.
- Hold, or are willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS.
- Have appropriate insurance for dance teaching.
- Have relevant dance teaching qualifications and/or professional training. Formal qualifications are welcomed, although experience and the right teaching style are equally important to us.
