Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our caring team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elderly individuals while working in a supportive and professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with previous supervisory experience in senior care settings.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support junior care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate and personalised care
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Develop, review, and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes or concerns promptly
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the care home
- Lead by example in delivering respectful, dignified, and empathetic care at all times
- Support residents with medication management as per prescribed care plans
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities using IT systems effectively
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, healthcare professionals, and team members to ensure cohesive care delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience working within a care home environment specialising in senior care
- Supervising or leadership experience in a similar setting is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with residents and their families
- Knowledge of care plans, health & safety procedures, and relevant legislation
- IT literacy skills for maintaining accurate records and updating electronic systems
- Valid driving licence is preferred but not essential; willingness to assist with transportation if required
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for elderly residents
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
