This is an opportunity to join a growing steel fencing and fabrication business based in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent. As a production operative you will need to already understand the fundamentals of working in a similar position, such as: accurately measuring materials, using machinery such as band saws, pillar drills, physically fit and experience with heavy materials.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assisting welders to complete jobs on time and to a high quality finish.
- Operating machinery to assist with prep of materials (in line with appropriate training given as required, on saws, drills etc..)
- Use of production manufacturing machinery and equipment, such as band saws, drills, forming machine, grinders etc. to prepare steel materials for fabrication.
- Keeping all working areas clean and tidy.
- Checking for damaged stock and reporting any damage to production manager.
- Any other reasonable request to suit the needs of the business as and when required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Able to work on own initiative and effectively work within the factory team.
- Ability to read from manufacturing drawings.
- Should have experience working with metal fabrication equipment.
- Experience working within a fabrication environment preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence advantage but not essential
- Holds Counterbalance Forklift Licence advantage but not essential
- Awareness of H&S procedures
