We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Chef/Cook to join our friendly team, preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for up to 29 elderly residents.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking traditional, homely food and wants to make a real difference to the lives of our residents.
Hours
- 3 days per week (over a 7-day rota)
- Working alongside our existing chef, who covers the remaining 4 days (alternate weekends)
- 8.00am – 5.00pm or 8.00am – 6.00pm, depending on your preference
Duties include:
- Preparing and serving fresh, nutritious home-cooked meals
- Planning varied and seasonal menus
- Catering for special dietary requirements and modified diets
- Ordering food and kitchen supplies
- Stock control and rotation
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Washing up and general kitchen duties
- Ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety standards
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a chef or cook (care home experience is desirable but not essential)
- Enjoys preparing traditional, home-style meals
- Is organised and able to manage a kitchen independently
- Has knowledge of special diets and food safety
- Is reliable, caring and takes pride in their work
- Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (or is willing to obtain one)
