The Shoregate is an award-winning restaurant with rooms in the heart of the picturesque fishing village of Crail, renowned for exceptional food, warm hospitality and outstanding guest experiences.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Duty Manager to join our management team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their hospitality career or for an established manager seeking a better work-life balance.
About the Role
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of both the restaurant and accommodation, ensuring every guest receives the highest standard of service.
You will lead by example, support and motivate the team, and be confident making operational decisions whilst maintaining the relaxed, professional atmosphere The Shoregate is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing restaurant and bar service during busy shifts.
- Leading and motivating the front of house team.
- Delivering exceptional customer service at all times.
- Opening and closing the business.
- Supervising reservations and guest arrivals.
- Supporting the management of our accommodation.
- Handling guest enquiries and resolving any issues professionally.
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and service.
- Working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.
- Training and developing junior members of staff.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality.
- Is confident leading a team in a busy restaurant environment.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Remains calm under pressure and leads by example.
- Has a genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Is flexible, reliable and takes pride in delivering high standards.

Location
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must have their own transport and be able to commute reliably to Crail. We are looking for someone who lives within approximately 30–40 minutes' drive of The Shoregate.
