HGV Mechanic / Technician

Our client, a well-established and growing commercial vehicle operator in South Yorkshire, is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their busy workshop team.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
- Saturday: 7:00am – 12:00pm (rota basis)
The Role
As an HGV Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring they remain roadworthy, compliant, and operational.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing DAF commercial vehicles
- Working on skip vehicles, roll-on/roll-off trucks, grab lorries, tippers, articulated units, walking floor trailers and light commercial vehicles
- Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections and presenting them for test
- Diagnosing faults using manufacturer diagnostic equipment
- Carrying out mechanical, electrical and running repairs
- Attending vehicle breakdowns when required
- Completing vehicle inspections in line with Operator Licence (O Licence) requirements
- Replacing wheels and carrying out torque checks
- Completing job cards and maintenance documentation accurately
- Working closely with the workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime
What We're Looking For
- Previous DAF training or hands-on DAF experience
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
