Production Sewing Machinist – Slow Fashion Brand

EMRLD is an independent, high-quality slow fashion brand based in Leicester, creating small-batch garments with a focus on quality, fit and longevity rather than fast fashion trends. We are looking for a highly skilled industrial machinist to join our in-house studio and help us maintain a premium standard across every piece we produce.
The role
You will be responsible for stitching complete garments to a high standard, working closely with the founder and production team to ensure consistency, clean finishes and reliable sizing. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and understands the difference between true quality and disposable fast fashion.
Key responsibilities
- Sew full garments from cut pieces using industrial machines (lockstitch, overlock, baby overlock, binding and hemming) to a high standard.
- Work confidently across different fabrics (especially jerseys and wovens) while maintaining clean stitching, accurate seam allowances and neat finishing.
- Follow patterns and technical instructions to ensure correct construction, fit and sizing.
- Maintain speed without compromising quality, ensuring garments are production-ready and customer-facing.
- Help to uphold a tidy, organised studio environment and care for the machines you use.
Essential experience
We are not a fast fashion brand, and this role is not suitable for machinists whose experience is only with mass production for ultra-fast fashion (e.g. Boohoo, ASOS and similar). We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong experience as a sewing machinist / sample machinist / garment machinist in high-quality or premium garment production (atelier, small-batch, independent, bridal, occasionwear or luxury brands preferred).
- Is fully confident using:
- Lockstitch
- Overlock
- Baby overlock
- Binding attachments
- Hemming machines
- zig zag machine ( training will be provided if not)
