Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our busy culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a professional hospitality setting, with potential pathways for career development within the industry. Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to maintain hygiene standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients
- Support the kitchen team during service periods by ensuring all areas are clean and well-stocked
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure the kitchen remains tidy at all times
- Restock supplies and organise storage areas to facilitate efficient workflow
- Follow health and safety regulations diligently to uphold a safe working environment
- Assist with general cleaning duties within the kitchen and surrounding areas to meet cleanliness standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking, or culinary practices is advantageous
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from senior staff
- Flexibility to work during busy periods; punctuality and reliability are essential
- A positive attitude towards learning new skills within the hospitality sector
Pay: £12.21 per hour
