On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a Skilled Maintenance Technician for a 12-month contract based in Washington.
This role will operate on a 3-shift pattern - weekly rotating early, link and late shifts.
Please note: As this is a Skilled position, you will require a Level 3 qualification (e.g NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds) in an engineering discipline and an apprenticeship completion document in order to proceed with an an application.
Job description - the role
Purpose of the role:
- Support the maintenance and reliability of manufacturing assets, CNC machinery, and specialist process equipment across the production facility.
- Perform diagnostics, fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to maintain operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll do as a Maintenance Technician:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using precision diagnostic tools.
- Maintain and support a wide range of manufacturing assets, including CNC machines and specialist chemical process equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, circuit diagrams, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
- Analyse equipment performance data and contribute to maintenance improvements and reliability initiatives.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to minimise disruption and maximise equipment availability.
- Support equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
- Work collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineers and external OEM engineers to restore and improve equipment performance.
The skills you'll need as a Maintenance Technician:
- Time-served apprenticeship with a Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (essential).
- Strong maintenance background within manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, or similar environments.
- Hands-on experience carrying out diagnostics, fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, ideally within a mechatronics-focused role.
- Experience working with CNC machinery and/or inspection and machining equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Flexible approach with the ability to work across different areas of a manufacturing environment.
- HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
