ALPINE RACING LIMITED
Are you ready to accelerate your career with a dynamic and innovative F1 team? We have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptionally talented Lead Powertrain Design Engineer to join our Heat Rejection Powertrains Design group within the Engineering Office at Enstone. This position will play a crucial role in delivering competitive advantage through world-class thermal management, helping us push for podiums and race wins.
Our team is dedicated to engineering excellence, pushing the boundaries of technology and optimising performance to achieve our goals. We are built on collaboration and mutual support, fostering a vibrant, inclusive culture where your ideas and leadership are valued.
The role of our Lead Powertrain Design Engineer - Heat Rejection
You will be the technical lead for heat rejection systems within the powertrain, responsible for the design, integration and performance of cooling architectures and associated components. You will lead a group of engineers, taking ownership of thermal concepts and designs, ensuring robust delivery of solutions that optimise car performance, reliability and packaging. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical excellence with the ability to guide, develop and inspire a high-performing team.
Your Challenge:
Lead the definition and delivery of heat rejection systems from concept through to race application, taking full ownership of design specifications, development and performance outcomes.
- Ownership of detailed design, including machined parts, composite components, and integration within tight packaging constraints
- Defining and driving validation strategies for thermal performance, reliability and serviceability
- Managing project delivery from cradle to grave, ensuring adherence to timing, cost and quality targets
- Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, approving designs and driving best practice
- Collaborating cross-functionally to resolve complex thermal and integration challenges
- Driving continuous improvement and innovation in heat rejection capability
Who we want:
We are looking to enhance our talented team with someone who has significant experience, ideally within F1 or another high-level motorsport environment, with a strong background in thermal systems and heat rejection.
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in Engineering and bring a deep understanding of engineering first principles, with specific expertise in heat transfer, fluid systems and thermal management.
It would be ideal if you had previous CAD experience with Catia V5/3DX, but we will support with training if NX or similar is your expertise.
We need someone who is a strong technical leader: self-motivated, analytical, and a pragmatic decision-maker, capable of leading a team and delivering under pressure. You will be a clear communicator, able to align stakeholders and drive performance across a complex organisation.
We are seeking someone with a creative, innovative, and consistent approach to problem-solving, who can challenge convention and inspire others while maintaining a relentless focus on detail and delivery.
