Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance and Gardening Worker to join our unique private estate. This is a rare opportunity for someone who would like a varied job role completing both general maintenance tasks and aiding the gardening team with extra tasks. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable completing tasks from cutting hedges and weeding flower beds to painting fences, laying pathways or building furniture. The role includes working within a small dedicated team, and is full-time, hands-on and primarily outdoors.
The Role
You will play a key role in maintaining and developing a diverse range of outdoor and indoor environments to an exceptional standard. Combining maintenance and gardening knowledge with a proactive, hands-on approach, you will help ensure the estate remains immaculate, functional, and visually inspiring year-round.
You will:
- Complete general estate maintenance tasks including painting fences and building outdoor structures.
- Assisting in Basic repairs of interior rooms and furniture from general wear and tear.
- Maintain gardens, flowerbeds, shrubs, and landscaped areas through pruning, trimming, watering, planting, and seasonal care.
- Carry out routine ground’s maintenance including leaf blowing, pathway clearance, litter picking, and debris removal.
- Support the upkeep of lakes and surrounding outdoor spaces.
- Operate and maintain machinery and tools including power tools , mowers, strimmer’s, hedge cutters, and other handheld equipment
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure all spaces are maintained safely and efficiently
- Report hazards, damages, or maintenance concerns promptly
- Occasionally support team leadership and help uphold high working standards across the estate
About You
You are practical, reliable, and time efficent. You understand that good standards of work are built through consistency and attention to detail.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in maintenance and gardening
- A strong work ethic and willingness to undertake hands-on physical tasks in all weather conditions
- Confidence using hand tools, power tools, and garden machinery
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- A proactive and flexible approach to daily tasks
Desirable
- Formal Gardening or Maintenance training or qualifications
- Experience working on private estates
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Telehandler or fork lift licence (desirable but not essential)
Working Hours
- 10-hour shifts (including 1-hour paid lunch break)
- 5 days per week
- 1 weekend off in 4
