The Farm
Blythburgh Pigs is a family-run free range pig farm based on the beautiful North East Suffolk coast. We operate two 1,000-sow outdoor breeding herds and rear pigs in our own unique free range system through to slaughter.
With over 40 years of experience spanning two generations, we're passionate about high standards of animal welfare and producing exceptional quality pork, which is supplied to some of the UK's leading butchers and chefs.
The Role
We're looking for someone to join our team for 4–5 hours every Saturday & Sunday morning.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the idea of practical, outdoor work and wants to gain experience in modern livestock farming. Previous experience with pigs isn't essential—we're far more interested in finding someone with a positive attitude, who is reliable, willing to learn and happy to work hard. Full training will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
Your work may include:
- Feeding and checking pigs.
- Pressure Washing.
- Tractor driving (training provided).
- General maintenance around the farm.
- Supporting the team with a variety of seasonal jobs.
No two Weekends are the same, and you'll gain experience across a range of farm activities.
What We're Looking For
The ideal applicant will be:
- Reliable and punctual.
- Happy working outdoors throughout the year.
- Comfortable with physical, hands-on work.
- Keen to learn new skills.
- A drive to do the job properly
Previous experience working outdoors, with livestock, or driving tractors or other agricultural machinery would be an advantage but is not essential.
The Working Environment
This is an outdoor role in all seasons. The work involves walking across fields, manual handling, working on uneven ground and carrying out practical tasks in a variety of weather conditions, from hot summer days to cold, wet winter mornings.
Location
The farm is located near Blythburgh (IP19). Due to the early morning start, applicants should being able to travel independantly to the farm each week.
