The Supply Room is currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant (Mental Health) to join one of our client specialist secondary schools in Camberwell, supporting students aged 11–16 years.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with excellent opportunities for successful candidates to secure a permanent role within the school.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.
Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide tailored support to individuals and small groups, encourage positive behaviour, build confidence and resilience, and help create a safe, structured learning environment where every student can succeed.
A key aspect of this role involves supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
You will develop strong relationships with students, act as a positive role model, support emotional regulation strategies, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Patience, consistency, and a proactive approach are essential for success in this rewarding position.
We are looking for candidates with previous experience or qualifications in Childcare, Youth Work, Sports Coaching, or related fields. Experience working with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
Applicants must be punctual, reliable, available to work full-time, and have a genuine interest in pursuing a long-term career within education.
This role is particularly well suited to semi-professional or former professional football players, sports coaches, youth workers, psychology graduates, and individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and making a lasting difference in their lives.
