We are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone with experience in electronics testing, PCB/PCBA fault finding and troubleshooting.
You’ll work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to ensure electronic assemblies and finished products meet the required technical and quality standards.
The Role
- Carry out functional and in-circuit testing of PCBs, electronic assemblies and finished products.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults down to component level.
- Use electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and other measurement equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams and technical documentation.
- Investigate test failures and identify root causes.
- Record test results, faults and corrective actions accurately.
- Support Production with technical issues and resolve problems efficiently.
- Assist with the development and improvement of test procedures, methods and work instructions.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality to improve product reliability and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain test equipment and ensure equipment remains suitable and correctly calibrated.
- Support continuous improvement and help improve test efficiency and first-time-pass rates.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in electronics testing, test engineering or a similar technical role.
- Experience testing PCBs, PCBAs or electronic assemblies.
- Strong practical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience using equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies.
- The ability to understand schematics, circuit diagrams and technical drawings.
- A good understanding of electronic components and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Production and Engineering teams.
Desirable Experience
- Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment.
- PCB/PCBA manufacturing.
- IPC standards, particularly IPC-A-610.
- Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Test software or scripting such as LabVIEW, Python or similar.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or NPI activity.
