Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and highly organised Funeral Administrator to join our dedicated team. This vital role involves managing administrative duties related to funeral arrangements, providing exceptional support to bereaved families, and ensuring the smooth operation of funeral services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. Heavy lifting may be required as part of the role, and prior experience in a similar environment is advantageous. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all administrative aspects of funeral arrangements, including documentation, scheduling, and liaising with families and service providers
- Provide compassionate support and guidance to bereaved families throughout the planning process
- Prepare and process necessary paperwork, permits, and legal documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Organise funeral service details, including venue bookings, transportation logistics, and liaising with clergy or celebrants
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions and correspondence related to each funeral case
- Handle incoming calls and enquiries professionally, ensuring timely responses
- Assist with organising memorial products or floral arrangements as required
- Perform light physical tasks such as heavy lifting of memorial items or equipment when necessary
- Ensure the funeral home environment remains clean, organised, and welcoming
- Participate in our on call rota.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role is preferred; experience within the funeral industry is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Compassionate communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations discreetly
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
- Physical capability for heavy lifting when required, ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanour
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., MS Office) is desirable
