About the role
Due to continued growth, Avove is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding design team. You will deliver EICA design on water and wastewater projects as part of a multi disciplinary team.
Projects cover both infrastructure and non infrastructure works across all design stages, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design for construction. Schemes include pumping stations, treatment works, mechanical screening, chemical dosing and sludge handling systems.
The role involves surveying existing assets, producing technical reports and developing detailed EICA design packages for construction handover, including MCC specifications, instrument and drive schedules, telemetry schedules, block cable diagrams, loop diagrams and field interconnections.
Location: Warrington (Avove offers flexible hybrid working, with a combination of office and remote working)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative, value for money design solutions aligned with the project brief and client requirements.
- Deliver projects through feasibility, preliminary and detailed design stages, maintaining high technical standards.
- Prepare, check and review engineering designs, calculations, drawings, technical reports, cost estimates and contract documentation.
- Liaise closely with clients, contractors and site teams, responding to technical queries and supporting construction delivery.
- Support bid preparation, feasibility studies, inspections and cost estimating activities.
- Assist with contract preparation, project planning, programming and administration, including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly CDM regulations, and the integrated management system.
- Supervise and develop members of the design team, including performance reviews and mentoring.
- Maintain strong client relationships and manage project correspondence effectively.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven ability to produce detailed electrical and instrumentation design outputs for complex process plant.
- Good working knowledge of clean and wastewater treatment processes, including pumping stations and associated equipment.
- Strong practical engineering capability, including undertaking site surveys and developing safe, buildable design solutions.
- Innovative and solution focused approach, adding value through thoughtful and efficient design.
- Working knowledge of civil and mechanical engineering interfaces.
- Experience estimating design effort and contributing to cost plans.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver designs end to end, including site support to construction teams.
- Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations); familiarity with Amtech software desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Candidates with prior experience supporting United Utilities frameworks or projects will be at an advantage.
