OJ Industries Ltd is a small but growing e-commerce and distribution business specialising in ambient food and drink products. Following our recent expansion into larger premises in Stourport, we are developing a dependable warehouse operation to support continued growth across major online marketplaces and retail channels.
The role
We are looking for an experienced e-commerce warehouse professional to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our warehouse. This is a practical, hands-on position: you will work directly on picking, packing, goods-in, replenishment and stock tasks while helping the Director develop reliable warehouse processes and, once recruited, supporting a Warehouse Operative.
The successful candidate will become the warehouse expert for Linnworks, dispatch controls, lot-code and best-before-date recording, food labelling, packing materials and safe working practices. Accuracy is critical because the role supports food traceability and product recall readiness.
As part of a small and growing business, you must be dependable, honest and proactive. You will need to use sound judgement, adapt to changing priorities and find practical solutions to day-to-day operational problems, while recognising when an issue must be escalated to the Director.
There will be occasions when you are the only employee working in the warehouse. You must therefore be comfortable working independently, opening and securing the premises, following the company's lone-working arrangements and maintaining agreed communication with the Director.
Key responsibilities
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately, efficiently and to the required presentation standard.
- Ensure every order due for collection is completed and ready within the relevant carrier timeslot.
- Receive deliveries; check quantities, condition, lot codes and best-before dates; and promptly report shortages, damage or short-dated stock.
- Complete put-away, replenishment, stock counting and stock-discrepancy checks.
- Accurately record lot codes and best-before dates in Linnworks and ensure stock is picked in line with the company's batch and date-rotation rules.
- Apply company-approved UK food labels to identified products and ensure no item requiring a label is dispatched without one.
- Create food bundles and multipacks accurately, following approved product specifications.
- Support the Director with traceability exercises, product recalls, quarantined stock and food-safety incidents.
- Become highly competent across our Linnworks Warehouse Management System, scanners, label printers and relevant warehouse processes.
- Monitor packaging-material levels and reorder approved boxes, tape and other key supplies in sufficient time to prevent shortages.
- Train and support warehouse employees, allocate or clarify tasks and provide informal feedback on day-to-day standards.
- Promote safe working, good food hygiene, cleaning and housekeeping; report hazards and incidents to the Director.
- Use pallet trucks and, after suitable training, operate a forklift in accordance with site authorisation and company procedures.
- Take responsibility for opening and securely closing the warehouse when required, in accordance with company security procedures.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience in a busy e-commerce warehouse environment is essential.
- Strong practical experience of warehouse management systems; previous Linnworks experience is highly desirable.
- Experience of picking, packing, goods-in, stock control and dispatch deadlines.
- A careful and methodical approach to stock records, batch details, best-before dates and food labels.
- Confidence using computers, handheld scanners and label-printing equipment.
- A high level of honesty, reliability and personal responsibility.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision, use initiative and take ownership of day-to-day warehouse priorities.
- Sound judgement when solving practical problems and identifying when safety, quality, stock, personnel or food-traceability concerns must be escalated.
- Comfortable working within a small, growing business where processes and priorities may develop over time.
- Availability to work the stated Saturday shift and take responsibility for opening and securing the warehouse when required.
- Ability to safely handle cartons weighing up to 23kg, using team lifts or mechanical aids where appropriate.
- A valid forklift qualification is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate must be willing to complete employer-funded training and obtain site authorisation.
- Experience handling ambient food products is preferred.
What we offer
- Permanent employment at £14.71 per hour, paid monthly on the last Friday of each month.
- 35 paid hours per week on a consistent five-day pattern, including Saturday.
- 196 paid hours of annual leave per full holiday year, including bank holidays, rising to 203 hours after one years service.

- This permanent position is 35 paid hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30am–4:15pm, and Saturday, 9:00am–3:30pm. Can you work this complete schedule?
