CU Phosco Lighting is a family owned company who have been manufacturing lighting masts and telecom Masts worldwide for over 100 years,
we are looking for an experienced plater/ mig welder to join our team.
Able to read drawings, work on own initiative and be self motivated. qualified to City & Guilds or equivalent experience, preferably Welder qualifications but will train if experienced.
The position is for 37 hours a week, the hours being 07:15 am to 17:00 pm Monday to Thursday, alongside the strong possibility of overtime on a Friday being 07:15 to 16:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MIG welding on steel sectional mast components
- Fabricate and assemble steel mast sections
- be able to work with jigs
- Read and work from engineering drawings
- Prepare materials, including cutting, grinding, and fitting
- Operate overhead cranes to safely move large and heavy sections
- Ensure all welds meet quality and structural standards
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in MIG welding (structural steel preferred)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Experience working with heavy steel sections
- Overhead crane experience (essential)
- Good understanding of workshop safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Previous experience in structural steel
- Welding qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
