Brewery Operative
Kirkstall Brewery | Leeds | Full-time | 40 hours per week
Join the team behind one of Yorkshire's most respected independent breweries.
At Kirkstall Brewery, we're passionate about brewing exceptional beer, investing in our people and continually raising the bar. As our brewery continues to grow, we're looking for a hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Brewery Operative to join our production team.
If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in quality and want to be part of a close-knit team producing award-winning beer, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
No two days are the same in our brewery. You'll play a key role in ensuring our beers are brewed, packaged and prepared to the highest possible standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Packaging beer across a variety of formats including cans, casks, kegs and mini kegs.
- Cleaning and preparing casks, kegs and packaging equipment.
- Carrying out cleaning and CIP procedures on production equipment.
- Following quality, food safety, HACCP and SALSA standards at all times.
- Monitoring production throughout the day to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Following stock rotation (FIFO) procedures.
- Completing housekeeping and cleaning schedules.
- Reporting equipment faults or production issues promptly.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Supporting the brewing team wherever required to help keep production running smoothly.
About you
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work.
- Takes pride in producing high-quality products.
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is reliable, organised and able to work at pace.
- Can follow procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness and quality.
- Has good attention to detail.
- Experience within brewing, food manufacturing or production is beneficial, but not essential—we're happy to provide training for the right person.
Physical requirements
This is an active role that involves frequent manual handling throughout the day, including moving full and empty casks and kegs. Applicants should be comfortable carrying out physical work in a production environment.
Hours of work
- 40 hours per week across five days.
- Shift rotation shared across the brewery team:
7:00am – 3:00pm | 8:00am – 4:00pm | 12:00pm – 8:00pm
- The late shift currently operates on approximately one week in every five.
- Occasional weekend working may be required to support the needs of our growing brewery.
