Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli products, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Responsibilities
- Prepare a range of deli items including sandwiches, salads, and hot food items accordance with company standards
- Serve customers courteously, taking orders and providing product recommendations through upselling techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli counter and surrounding area
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of perishable goods
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Restock deli displays as needed to ensure product availability throughout the shift
- Manage cash register operations accurately during transactions
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages or expiry dates
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous
- Experience with serving customers in a fast-paced environment is desirable
- Basic maths skills are necessary for handling transactions and portion control
- Kitchen or culinary experience will be considered an asset
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Ability to upsell products confidently to maximise sales opportunities
