Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver tramper to join our Transport team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating class 1 hgv on long-distance journeys, primarily focusing on delivering goods across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a passion for commercial driving and delivering exceptional service. The position involves extended periods away from home, ensuring efficient and safe transportation of goods while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
Duties
- Conduct safe and efficient driving of HGV Class 1 lorries, primarily artic curtains, across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo in accordance with safety standards, ensuring the securement of goods during transit.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all legal requirements related to tachograph regulations, driving hours, and road safety.
- Liaise with dispatch teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups, maintaining excellent communication throughout the journey.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times
- Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with clients and colleagues during deliveries.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed lorries or delivery vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and tachograph rules.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to undertake long-distance trips and stay away from home for extended periods (tramper role).
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage schedules effectively.
- Flexibility to work on a rota basis, including early mornings or late shifts as required.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road.
