At Caterfood we are looking for an experienced confident QHSE Manager to join our team.
As QHSE Manager you will lead and influence stakeholders across the depot to deliver a safe, compliant and high-performing operation, ensuring health, safety, environmental and food safety standards are clearly understood, consistently applied and owned by all employees.
Working collaboratively across the operation, you will coach, challenge and support stakeholders to make sound decisions, while promoting a positive and accountable safety culture.

Role Essentials
- Responsible for ensuring the depot is compliant to all applicable legislation/ H&S Policy and escalate risks where not.
- Own and maintain health, safety, environmental and food safety management systems, including audits, reporting, performance metrics and associated controls, driving legal compliance and continuous improvement across the depot
- Ensure all statutory inspections, monitoring and compliance checks are completed in accordance with legislative and company requirements.
- Ensure food safety monitoring programmes, including temperature control processes, are effectively managed and reviewed to maintain legal, customer and BRC requirements.
- Lead the development, coordination and delivery of all health, safety, environmental and food safety training across the depot, including inductions, toolbox talks, management briefings and role-specific compliance training.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of emergency procedures, including fire, first aid, and incident response arrangements
- Accountable for planning, coordinating and delivering internal audits across the depot.
- Monitors records to ensure all personal accidents and near misses are reported.
- Work in partnership with the Depot Management team to identify and review compliance key performance indicators to identify issues proactively and suggest improvements and efficiencies to better meet business/legal/customer requirements.
- Influence Depot Management team to ensure all Health & Safety, Environmental and Food Standards training is completed on time and in full. Proactively report potential non-compliance to the Managing Director
- Be responsible for control of the site facilities budget, analysing costs alongside key stakeholders in property, procurement to support and delivery value for the business.
- Ensure all equipment (including MHE) is used safely, maintained correctly, and defects are reported
Who we’re looking for
- Experience leading health, safety, environmental and food safety compliance within a food manufacturing, wholesale, logistics or distribution environment.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, food safety standards, environmental compliance and audit requirements, with the ability to translate these into practical operational controls.
- Proven ability to develop, implement and maintain management systems, policies, procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Experience leading internal and external audits, analysing compliance data and performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and support managers at all levels of the business.
- Experience designing and delivering health, safety, environmental and food safety training programmes.
- Able to balance operational priorities whilst maintaining focus on compliance, risk management and business performance.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, assess risk and make evidence-based recommendations.
