Location: Maryport Harbour & Marina, Maryport, Cumbria
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, may include some weekend & out of hours work as required.
Salary: £33,000–£36,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead our operational team. The successful candidate will supervise staff, plan and allocate workloads, monitor standards and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This is a practical leadership role where you will work alongside the team while taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and support the operational team on a daily basis.
· Plan, allocate and monitor workloads to ensure priorities are achieved.
· Inspect completed work and maintain high standards across the marina and harbour.
· Lead planned and reactive maintenance of marina, harbour and site assets.
· Coordinate and supervise boat lifting operations.
· Use computer systems to manage workloads, maintenance schedules and staff allocations.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
· Provide excellent customer service to berth holders and visitors.
· Work alongside the team in delivering operational activities.
Typical Operational Duties
· Boat lifting, launching and recovery using the marina's lifting equipment.
· Inspection, maintenance and repair of pontoons, berths and harbour infrastructure.
· General maintenance of marina buildings, workshops, plant, machinery and equipment.
· Grounds maintenance, painting and minor repair works.
· Operation and maintenance of the dock gate, bridge and other harbour assets.
· Assisting with vessel movements, berth allocations and marina operations.
· Responding to equipment breakdowns, defects and emergency situations.
· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and safety across the marina.
· Supporting contractors working on site and checking completed work.
· Assisting customers with berthing, lifting operations and general enquiries.
· Operating marina plant and equipment..
· Participating in operational emergency response and out-of-hours call-out arrangements where required.
Essential Requirements
· Previous supervisory experience in an operational, maintenance, marine or facilities environment.
· Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
· Experience allocating work and managing teams.
· Competent using Microsoft 365 and computer-based management systems.
· Practical maintenance skills and a proactive approach.
Desirable
· Marina or harbour experience.
· Experience of lifting operations or plant operation.
· IOSH Managing Safely or similar qualification.
· ILM Level 3 in Leadership and Management
· RYA Level 2 Powerboat
· First Aid qualification.
