As a Waste Operative with Sodexo, you'll enhance the services of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless facilities operations and keep things running smoothly.
What you'll do:

Collect and transport a variety of waste streams from across the site, including manufacturing, general and recyclable waste.

Ensure waste is correctly segregated and disposed of in line with site waste procedures.

Help promote recycling and responsible waste management across the site.

Operate Teletrucks, forklift trucks, ride-on sweepers and other waste-handling equipment safely.

Carry out daily checks on forklifts and waste-handling equipment, reporting any faults or concerns promptly.

Operate waste-handling plant and power-cleaning equipment as required.

Clean and maintain waste bins, containers, machinery, work areas and external yard areas.

Ensure waste containers are safe and secure before they are moved or removed.

Carry out minor repairs to waste bins and equipment using basic hand tools.

Move materials and equipment safely around the site.

Respond to scheduled tasks as well as additional requests to support the needs of the operation.

Identify and report incorrect waste disposal, leaks, potential fire risks, security concerns and other hazards.

Follow Safe Systems of Work, Health & Safety procedures and all relevant waste-management requirements.

Wear and use the appropriate protective clothing and PPE provided.

Complete any training required to carry out the role safely and effectively.

Work closely with colleagues, managers and other teams to provide a reliable and professional service.
What you'll bring:
-
A current Industrial Teletruck Licence – essential for this role.

A good understanding of waste management and waste segregation.
-
Previous experience working within waste operations or a similar industrial environment would be advantageous.
-
Experience operating forklifts, Teletrucks or other waste-handling equipment.
-
A strong commitment to Health & Safety and safe working practices.
-
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
-
A reliable, proactive and flexible approach to work.
-
Good attention to detail with the confidence to identify and report hazards or operational issues.
-
Basic IT skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications.

A customer-focused approach and the ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, managers and customers.
