Leading Edge Group encompasses 3 business encompassing signage and graphics, construction/fit out and Facililities Management.
As part of our growth and expansion plans, including a new studio, we are looking for a Studio Director to manage all artwork design, pre press, creative concept work and technical drawings in relation to all aspects of the Company’s design and production projects, including staff management.
This is a management leadership role with a requirement for some hands on activity.
Essential Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include management and hands on design, but are not limited to those stated below:
· Manage a team of several designers, evaluating individual design deliverables and overall team performance;
· A proven track record in a preflight/prepress environment
· Communicating with the senior management group to raise any concerns in respect of the department’s operations, including but not limited to – QA/QC, creativity, spelling, technical specification, staff concerns, efficiency and health and safety
· To provide support to the senior management group by offering assistance in respect of department administration, including procurement/ordering
· Coordinate activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements
· Awareness of budgets and budgetary changes
· Actively seek to increase profit and cost reductions
· Develop and implement successful design strategies, outlining how the design team will create deliverables and implement them for the project
· Review workloads and manpower to ensure targets are met based on the clients request;
· Appointing and working with external partners on strategic marketing and branding campaigns
· Deliver critical feedback to team members where required and provide encouragement throughout the duration of a project
· To ensure that the company’s resources are used cost effectively on all projects and that waste is identified and solutions advised
· Responsibility for recruitment
· Creative thinking to devise original and exciting visual concepts;
that are in line with a client’s demands
· To act as a responsible and professional ambassador for Leading Edge and always protect the Leading Edge brand & reputation in all activities
· Roles and responsibilities may change from time to time based on business requirements. The role may also incorporate some general duties not specified, and you will be requested to provide support where applicable for other departments during staff absences or busy periods
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Solid knowledge of media production and communication
· Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily,
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
Indesign
· A strong or working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up.
· Strong knowledge of creating print and production ready
files for a fast-paced environment.
· An understanding of the application of design across
various digital and social platforms
· Eagerness to influence project planning and specification
· Keeping up-to-date with design and multimedia trends and
the latest developments in software tools
· Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks when working on multiple projects concurrently
· The ability to communicate at all levels diplomatically and tactfully
· The ability to work under own initiative and make decisions within the company’s guidelines
· The ability to deal with difficult situations
· To be aware of the company’s need for confidentiality
A minimum of 3 years experience in a signage/graphics/print design role is required for this position. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate a strong knowledge of the signage manufacturing process. We also seek creative attributes.
