6 Job Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Practice Manager, the Receptionist will provide administrative support to the Practice to allow the smooth and efficient running of the reception area and office. They will play an integral role by acting as a point of contact for patients and will routinely relay information to practice staff, including the Partners, management team, reception team and medical team. The individual will ensure that tasks are completed within timescales and are in line with any practice targets. The majority of this work will be dealing with patients over the telephone. The applicant must be able to cover some early morning starts at 07:45 and late finishes at 18:30. In addition to this they will need to be able to cover approximately one evening surgery each month until 20:00, this will be on either a Monday or a Thursday.
7 Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Be familiar of all systems worked by the reception team to ensure appointments are booked, cancelled and amended as required.
- Be able to signpost patients accordingly.
- Ensure that your day to day reception work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure reception and workstations are kept neat and tidy.
- Ensure medical records are filed correctly and kept in good repair.
- Answer telephones in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Act as an initial contact for patients on the reception desk.
- Liaise with attached staff as required.
- Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
