- One dedicated Industrial Cleaning Operative. (Warehouse/Production/Yard)
- Monday to Friday working. Stat time to be confirmed between 07:00-08:00am
- 8-hour shifts per day with a 30-minute unpaid break (37.5 paid hours per week).
- No Bank Holiday attendance unless separately agreed.
- Cleaning operatives pay rate: £12.71 per hour.
- Full uniform, PPE and all statutory employment costs included.
Scope of Duties
The operative will be responsible for maintaining agreed standards of cleanliness throughout:
- Warehouse areas.
- Production areas.
- External yard and roadways.
- Loading bays.
- Walkways.
- Waste collection areas.
- Welfare areas (where agreed).
Duties will include sweeping, cleaning, waste removal, housekeeping, litter picking, equipment cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with site procedures.
Site Equipment
As part of the role, the successful operative will receive training in the safe operation of the site's ride-on road sweeper.
The equipment will only be operated:
- Following site-specific training and authorisation.
- Within the customer's site boundaries.
- In accordance with Smurfit Westrock's site procedures.
Operation of the road sweeper does not constitute a driving role and will be limited solely to cleaning activities on site.

Purpose of the Role
To maintain high standards of cleanliness, housekeeping and safety throughout the warehouse, production and external yard areas, ensuring all cleaning activities are completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean warehouse, production and yard areas daily.
- Sweep floors using manual and mechanical equipment.
- Operate the site's ride-on road sweeper following training.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated collection points.
- Maintain loading bays, pedestrian routes and external areas.
- Carry out litter picking and debris removal.
- Clean around skips and waste compounds.
- Maintain cleaning equipment.
- Report defects, spillages and health and safety concerns.
- Follow all site procedures and safe systems of work.
- Work collaboratively with the customer to maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
Essential Requirements
- Reliable and punctual.
- Good attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling.
- Able to work independently and within a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake site-specific equipment training.
Desirable
- Previous industrial cleaning experience.
- Experience within warehouse or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety procedures.
- Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment.
Equipment Training
The successful candidate will receive training to operate the site's ride-on road sweeper solely for cleaning activities undertaken within Smurfit Westrock's premises.
Physical Requirements
The role involves frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling cleaning equipment, together with working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
