We are currently recruiting for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Flintshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and other learning difficulties.
The Role
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
- Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Help implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Create a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.
Requirements
- Current Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration is essential.
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or within an ALN/SEN setting.
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting children.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as travel between schools may be required.
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or complex learning needs.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualifications.
