Join our dynamic team as a Kitchen Assistant and be a vital part of creating delicious, high-quality meals in a fast-paced environment! This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable kitchen experience, and contribute to a welcoming dining atmosphere, in this "Good" rated, 32 bedded care home. Whether you're passionate about food, eager to learn, or experienced in catering and food preparation, this position is perfect for motivated individuals ready to make a positive impact through teamwork and dedication. Must be chatty and kind as being involved with the residents is a must. Shifts are 8 am to 2 pm, 4 days a week on a 2 week rolling rota, week one Wed, Thur, Sat & Sun. Week 2 - Mon, Wed, Thur & Fri. We can be flexible on the start time.
Duties
- Assist with meal preparation and food assembly to ensure timely service
- Support chef in servind meals
- Take the tea trolley around the home and serve the residents drinks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, utensils, and equipment
- Follow food safety standards and hygiene protocols to uphold health regulations
- Help with food storage, labeling, and inventory management to minimize waste
- Serve dishes efficiently during meal service, ensuring quality presentation
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supporting colleagues and adhering to safety guidelines
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, restaurant work, or food service is desirable but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of preparation processes
- Familiarity with food safety standards and hygiene practices in a commercial kitchen preffered but not essential.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and serving staff
- Basic culinary experience that demonstrates a passion for food and learning new skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
